The clear interface of iPhone
Steve Jobs, CEO of iPod, declares on Tuesday at the MacWorld Meeting that the name of the company is changed from iPod Computer Company to iPod Company.
It is said that iPhone will be released in June, at the price of $499. With multi functions, iPhone, Jobs says, will surpass all the other intelligent phones. The reason to change the name is that iPod is transforming from a computer manufacturer into a consumption goods supplier.
Avi Greengart, the analyzer with Current Analysis, indicates that despite Jobs’ optimistic opinion about the prospects of iPhone, considering the high price, it is difficult to say whether iPhone will pose great pressure to other intelligent phone manufacturers.
IPod will supply iPhone to Cingular, who will contract with the subscribers. Jobs predicts that by 2008, 10 million iPhones will be sold.
